Can you feel the burn?
Today is a wonderful gem of a workout we call squat a minute. It is one of the ultimate challenges of can you look past the burn and continue to make your body move, despite the mounting levels of lactic acid that will course through your legs. This workout will stretch you mentally and physically, but in the end the feeling of success far out weighs the soreness accompanied by the volume of squats that will be completed. The workout is done by completing the number of squats = to the minute time on the watch. 1 minute = 1 squat, 2 minutes = 2 squats, etc. etc. If you cannot complete the prescribed reps within the minute you are finished. If you cannot maintain adequate form I will make a call to tell you that your workout is complete. If this happens please do not be upset with me as I make the call based on your safety as it is always the most important thing. Ensure you bring a water bottle as there will not be time for drinks. You can plan on the workout taking you anywhere between 12 to 45 minutes depending on your level. I encourage all to stay until the last person is done as they will need the support to continue on.
This workout will also show if you have any breakdowns in form under fatigue and allow me to see everyone squat again, again, and again. The benefit to me as a coach is that I will be able to cue on imbalances and analyze what it is we need to work on in the future to make you a more proficient mover and squatter.
Common form breakdowns that will result in the workout being called for you:
1. Shallow depth
2. Repeated loss of lumbar curve
3. Repeated muted hip function (not locking out at the top)
4. Knees not tracking properly
See you all tomorrow!
